Language is a core part of improving patient access and quality care.
If you didn’t know, around 20 million people in the United States have limited English proficiency (LEP). That’s a lot of people.
In California alone, more than seven million patients have limited English proficiency. Not to mention, very few clinicians speak the languages of their patients.
Today, after English, Spanish and Chinese are the most spoken languages in the country.
Being able to offer programs and services in different languages not only sets you apart but also helps to bridge gaps in care and quality.
Why is this important to your remote patient monitoring program?
We internationalized (i18n) our mobile apps so that we could localize them into the languages our customers care about most.
What’s more, as a health organization you can compare patient-generated health data across different language populations. That helps you understand whether you need to allocate more resources for translation, education, and/or outreach services to better serve high utilizers in LEP populations.
This is a huge win.
How does it work ?
Our apps will automatically match the language of the patient’s phone. So if a patient has their phone language set to Spanish, our apps will show all text and play all audio in Spanish.
For example, check out Sonoma Rises on iOS or Android–our first app translated into Spanish.
The core content in all Overlap mobile apps is translated into Spanish out of the box. If you have specific content that you’d like translated, we can support that as well.
